Consistently reliable patterns

This was my third purchase from Just Patterns; I got the Tyra Tee this time. I've always appreciated their inclusive sizing and detailed instructions, and this pattern didn't disappoint. It was just as well-drafted as the Helena Wrap Dress and the Milton Pinafore I made previously. Download was instant, just like before, and the printing options are always a plus. It's why I keep coming back – I know what to expect and they deliver.

Value for a new sewist

I was looking for a good beginner pattern and saw the Diana Dress was on a new release discount, which helped me decide. The price felt fair, especially with the 15% off. Downloading the PDF was straightforward, and I found the instructions pretty easy to follow, even for someone new to garment sewing. I printed it at home on my regular printer, and it tiled correctly. It felt like a good investment for learning, and I'm happy with how the dress turned out without breaking the bank.

Good pattern, delivery slow

I ordered the Calla Coat pattern last month. The pattern itself is high quality, with clear instructions and the sizing goes up to 60 which is great. I used the projector file and it worked perfectly. My only real gripe was the download link took a good 24 hours to hit my inbox after payment, which felt a bit long for a digital product. Otherwise, it's a solid pattern for the price.

Hey, wondering if the Tyra Tee is good for a total newbie? I've only sewn a few pillowcases before lol.

D Derek W. 1 month ago
Nah, probably not the best for your first garment. I think their patterns are a bit more involved, focus on 'professional techniques' and all that. They do have some for beginners though, check the descriptions.

Yeah, some of their stuff can be tricky. I'd look for something specifically marked 'beginner' on their site. The instructions are super thorough, which helps, but some of the techniques might be a lot if you're just starting out.

Trying to figure out sizing for the Milton Pinafore. Is it pretty true to size compared to like, Gap or something?

C Cleo K. 1 month ago
I find their sizing pretty consistent with the measurement charts. Just measure yourself and go by that. Don't worry about RTW sizing, it's all over the place.

J Josh Torres 1 month ago
Hmm, I usually have to size up one from my normal RTW size at the bust, but my waist fits their chart. Always worth checking the finished garment measurements if they provide them, that's what I do.

Can I use the Calla Coat pattern to make coats for my small online shop? Or is it just for personal use?

K Kate 2 months ago
Nah, I'm pretty sure their patterns are for personal use only. Most indie patterns are like that unless they specifically state commercial licensing.

B Ben Walsh 2 months ago
I remember reading something about that, you can't use them for commercial stuff. They're pretty clear on it, helps protect their designs.

How do Just Patterns stack up against Closet Core? I've mostly sewn Closet Core before.

C Chris L. 1 month ago
I like both, but Just Patterns feels a bit more 'fashion-forward' to me, if that makes sense? Their instructions are super detailed, kinda similar quality to Closet Core actually.

Good question! I think Just Patterns has more inclusive sizing, which is a big plus. Both have great instructions, but Just Patterns often has a slightly more modern, 'designer' feel to the finished garments.

Does Just Patterns ever do sales? I'm eyeing a few things but wondering if I should wait.

A Anna Carter 1 month ago
Oh yeah, they totally do! I got a great deal on a bundle last Black Friday. Also, sometimes new patterns launch with a discount.

Sign up for their newsletter, that's how I usually hear about sales and sometimes they send a new subscriber discount. I've seen 15-20% off pretty often.
